The annual Company Marathon Challenge took place in Limerick on Friday, with the team from SL Controls setting a new fastest time.
We came sixth in the event overall, with a time of 2 hours 21 minutes, two minutes faster than last year.
The Company Marathon Challenge is organised by Limerick Sports Partnership and takes place every year on National Fitness Day. It is a team bonding event, but it also promotes keeping fit and living a healthy lifestyle.
Each team has 20 participants with 15 runners, three subs, and two volunteers. The runners complete 14 x 200m sections, covering a distance of 2.8km overall. The whole team together completes a full marathon distance.
Emer Feeney, HR Generalist at SL Controls, said: “The Company Marathon Challenge fits in perfectly with our Live Well at SL programme. In fact, it is one of the highlights of the programme.
“We are happy with our time as we beat last year’s result, but we are competitive too. We can’t wait until next year where we will hopefully go faster again.”
