Role Brief

As a Graduate Controls Engineer you will be responsible for providing support for wide ranging manufacturing processes. You will participate in planning and support of the introduction of high-speed automation lines.

This role provides technical support in areas of PLC communications, vision and RFID communications while driving activities at the supplier to ensure automation & software support is achieved. You will be involved in a range of tasks and work closely with members of  the technical, validation and other engineering teams. You will also interface with product team members, department managers, designers/equipment manufacturers, R&D, quality, and regulatory personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute engineering modifications to optimize processes and outcomes.
  • Participate in engineering studies and experiments aimed at improving system functionality.
  • Evaluate issues and analyze their repercussions on projects and workflows.
  • Help to define and process specifications that meet project objectives.
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to established company protocols for clarity and compliance.

This role will include a pattern of shift work which may include late shifts, nights and weekend work. Candidates must be flexible to work these shifts.

Skills Brief

  • A minimum of 12 months experience on PLC programming with Rockwell / Allen Bradley PLC systems is essential – this can be gained in a University setting, via Internships or in a professional setting.
  • Some Siemens PLC systems knowledge would also be considered.
  • Some knowledge of vision systems would be advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of RFID communications.
  • Some experience in generation / execution of software test plans.
  • Experience in FAT, SAT, commissioning & validation of high-speed automation equipment would be advantageous but is not essential.

Person Brief

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Industry Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical engineering or a similar course of study focused on industrial automation technology is essential.
  • Some project or internship experience in an automation engineering role within Life Sciences, Pharma or Medical Devices would be highly advantageous.
  • Based in the Kilkenny area or within a reasonable commute and able to be onsite daily as the role is an onsite role.
