SL Controls-ECubers™ TY 2015 Challenge was successfully ran in Mercy College Sligo recently. Mercy college Technology students joined forces with Summerhill College Engineering students to complete the challenge which encourages students to actively explore and develop their Technical Skills.
ECubers™ aims to produce the most knowledgeable and skilled Equipment Systems Engineers of the future who are capable of succeeding in a competitive global market.
The manufacturing teams in the Mercy College successfully constructed the LEGO® Technic models and had great fun while learning key Engineering and Technology skills in a realistically simulated work environment.
Shane Loughlin Chief Technical Officer of SL Controls said he was “delighted with how the program was received by the students and the teachers involved” and outlined that the program “provided the students the opportunity to work on engineering related tasks whilst affording the students time to explore and evaluate an engineering related discipline as a chosen career path. The feedback from the students was very positive. It was a great success and the level of engagement from the students exceeded expectation”.
