Role Brief

The successful candidate provide technical support and project management to all manufacturing operations and NPI’s throughout the site. You will provide technical leadership of all control system activities in a medical device manufacturing facility for a key NNIT Ireland client.

Core responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of control system qualification activities during project start-up.
  • In conjunction with IT, lead the integration of new systems.
  • Project management of control system elements of new and continuous improvement projects.
  • Work closely with process engineers and other departments to deliver these projects.
  • Project management and technical development of future integrations of the control systems, with planned MES/ERP/Data Historian (OSI PI) systems.
  • Life cycle management of the on-site control systems to applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support to all control system related issues. Tasks include, daily trouble shooting, optimisation, and documentation control.
  • Adhere to and supports all EHS & E standards, procedures and policies.
  • Identify opportunities and assist in leveraging of vendor qualification efforts, developing relationships with vendors, and act as Engineering representative for pre-approval of vendor documentation.

Skills Brief

  • Experience in a GMP regulated environment is essential and only candidates with this experience can be considered (The following experience will be consideration – Pharma, Life Sciences, Biotech or Medical Devices manufacturing).
  • 3 years plus experience in an automation engineering role, with software development of PLC /HMI / SCADA platforms in a GMP pharmaceutical industry environment.
  • Strong experience of the 21 CFR Part 11 requirements for automated systems in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven experience of plant start-ups and/or new product introductions to medical device facilities. Must be able to lead these activities in a start-up environment.
  • Experience in qualification of control systems is essential.
  • Experience in auditing and internal inspection would be advantageous.

Person Brief

Candidates must have a B.Sc. degree in Mechatronics or Automation or equivalent, with a focus on software development, electrical, electronic or automation discipline, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices or a relevant GMP manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and strong problem solving skills.

The role is based onsite in Sligo and is an onsite designated role. Therefore, only candidates based within a reasonable commute of the site or willing and able to relocate within a reasonable time frame and not requiring a work permit application can be considered at this time.
