The Role

  • Project Manager – Mechanical Design
  • Remote – Travel to the client site in Florida will be required and may amount to circa 20% of the working time

Role Brief

The successful candidate will manage Complex medical device assembly and packaging related projects for a significant SL Controls client with responsibility for the mechanical design for manufacturing strategies and the design of automated assembly lines for our client.

The successful candidate will be charged with partnering with client R&D depts. on new product introductions with a view to Project Managing the acquisition, deployment, and commissioning of bespoke High-Volume Automation solutions.

Skills Brief

  • Project Management experience in managing end to end OIS Projects like MES PASX, OSI Pi upgrades, hot fixes.   
  • Experience of writing detailed URS & related specifications
  • Management and cashflow reporting of Large Capital Budgets
  • Managing multiple vendors to complete FAT/SAT/Installation & Commissioning/Validation
  • Ability to plan for & coordinate a wide variety of largely remote resources to meet production quality & quantity metrics
  • Managing the automation component & the New Product Introduction (NPI) function & its ability to transition & support products & processes to manufacturing
  • Support the business units with all technical issues that arise relative to purchased equipment & materials during the NPI phase
  • Provide technical advice to site engineering groups and with customers to facilitate planning, determine technical direction or solve technical complex mechanical problems
  • Identifies & implements opportunities to reduce manufacturing complexity

Person Brief

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related technical discipline with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

A Mechanical Design Automation background is highly preferred for this role.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and teamwork skills that inspire others and have experience in leading cross-functional teams on complex technical challenges. Vendor Management experience is essential for the role.

A PMP / Prince / PgmP Certification is again highly preferred but not essential if strong project management experience is evident.

The role can be undertaken remotely from Ireland but you must be available for US travel to the site as required – (<20%)
