The Role

Role Brief

The successful candidate will be responsible for the commissioning and support of automation and control systems.

The candidate will be responsible for automation and control systems, programming, simulation, testing, start-up assistance as well as FAT & SAT support

Travel is an essential feature of the job both locally in Ireland and internationally including the UK and Europe mainly.

Location: mainly in towns or cities throughout Ireland, the UK and Europe

Skills Brief

  • Acquire a detailed understanding of all of the different automation architectures (Master – Slave, PLCs, SCADA systems).
  • Ability to interact with the customers on technical requirements.
  • Ability to deliver technical solutions.
  • Ability to assess existing technologies and process.
  • Ability to design robust solutions.
  • Investigate and provide technical advice and support to manufacturing and other engineering disciplines on automation related issues.
  • Operate according to SOP’s developed for site engineering and maintenance.
  • Partner with different disciplines to deliver automation projects in accordance with GAMP guidelines.
  • Implementation of code changes under change control.
  • Manage the installation and validation of automation projects within timelines and corporate guidelines.
  • Support operations with technical queries.
  • Experienced with Vision Systems in the manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interact with the customers on technical requirements.
  • Ability to assess existing technologies and processes.
  • Operate according to SOP’s developed for site engineering and maintenance.
  • Implementation of code changes under change control.

Person Brief

Candidates must have a B.Sc. degree in Engineering or equivalent, with emphasis in software development, electrical, electronic or automation discipline, with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in industry, preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, blue chip or relevant GMP manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and strong problem skills.

The candidate must possess the technical expertise to maintain, develop, troubleshoot and validate these systems in a compliant manner.

The candidate must have proven experience in PLC logic and programming as well as HMI or SCADA programming.

Essential Skills:

  • Knowledge of PLCs, I/O, OPC Communication
  • Knowledge of network services that include LAN, VPN & RDP
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and report out to Project Managers
  • Ability to work with clients under pressure
  • Positive and proactive attitude
